Michael Cifelli practices in the area of civil defense litigation, with broad experience in insurance coverage matters concerning employment and labor claims, asbestos claims, and environmental contamination claims. Mr. Cifelli has provided coverage analysis and coverage litigation services for insurers such as Crum and Forster, U.S Fire, North River and Utica, relevant to claims tendered pursuant to GCL policies, Errors & Omissions policies, Directors & Officers policies, and Claims Made policies.

Mr. Cifelli litigates cases before administrative agencies and State and Federal courts, and has successfully defended employers in the public and private sector (including defense work as assigned by carriers) against discrimination, constitutional violations, wrongful discharge, breach of contract, harassment, and other employment-related claims.

Mr. Cifelli has been serving as the Municipal Prosecutor for the Borough of East Newark since 2000 and served as Chairman of the Federal Housing Authority for the Township of Harrison. He also served as an adjunct professor of paralegal studies at the Hudson Community College for five years.

Prior to joining private practice, Mr. Cifelli worked as an Assistant County Counsel for the County of Hudson where he gained extensive trial and appellate experience in civil litigation involving claims against public entities, local public contracts law, employment law, civil rights law, regulatory law and the law against discrimination. He was a former Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Paul M. DePascale, Superior Court of New Jersey, Chancery Division, Hudson County.
